Illustrator Takeover & Marcus

In Mid-February, when COVID-19 hadn’t become the international emergency it is now, much closer to home the brewery had hit its own smaller, much more local emergency.  Marcus, our long-term illustrator of five years got in touch and told us he had to take time off for his health.

 

For the last five years, he’s single-handedly done all our design work, creating incredible concepts and immortalising our team and industry friends with characters on our beers. We had never considered what our label would look like not in Marcus’ style. But, with new beers in tank and needing new designs, we had to find an alternative solution to ensure Marcus had time to recuperate.

This is our third year of working alongside ELCAF (East London Comic & Arts Festival), so it seemed like the perfect chance to reach out to them for help. We worked with three of their artists, and two of our team members, in a move we called an “Illustration Takeover” (Read more about that here).

Five weeks later, Marcus is on the mend and back at it, working on our next set of specials. In a time that is tumultuous for us all – hospitality and freelancers have been hit particularly hard. We’ve seen so much support from you all in the last week, it has kept us fighting.
