Filungar is collaboration with Vault City and is an IPA take on a Norwegian Farmhouse Ale.
The traditional Kveik yeast ferments hot and kicks out bags of fruity orange and citrus esters.
It’s been liberally hopped with Denali, El Dorado and Citra for good measure.
Goes well with strong winds and stronger ships.
Featuring Johnny, Master of mixed ferm at Vault City.
We were looking to tie together the Norwegian culture and Scotland. The Vikings were notorious for their assaults on the East Coast of the UK, looking down that route we found ‘Filungar’ is the name for a Viking ship builder. We liked the idea that the yeast could be transported by the boats, bringing it across to the UK. Johnny, head brewer of Vault city features as a Filungar.
